Not to demote this site in any way, but you can also download this mod on vbulletin.org. Just do a search for XEON Mp3 Player and you'll find it. I'm running the mod on my own site and it's great! I just wish there was an option to choose a different database to handle the songs. It's not an issue right now while my forum is small, but when it becomes large and, let's say, a 100 people are using the player it'll be pretty taxing on the forum.

I should have this mod updated within the next few days! Bugs have been fixed and some coding has been changed for browser compatibiity issues with Internet Explorer.

This modification is now updated to 3.5.1 - it is recommended that you overwrite ALL files and import the updated Product XML file, which will alter some tables used by this modification. It does not effect any vBulletin tables.
Thanks to all that have installed this mod!

Well, this mod is quite popular with the vbulletin community and its only available on 3 sites (including this one ). I've seen it being used for podcasting on one big UK forum, so it has been put to a good use.
I've got a few new modifications on the horizon - and I'll add a couple on here!

What a great mod, I just visited your demo site !
I have one question, how do you deal with copyright issues, I mean do you buy a kind of broadcasting license for the tracks you offer?
Cheers
A.

Well, the mod uses internal or external linking, therefore tracks can be held on servers anywhere. Some people have used this mod for podcasts from their own sites.
Basically, it depends where your site is hosted, because laws are very different between countries. Then again if you set it up so it links to mp3's on an external server in another country (apart from China - they allow no mp3's on any server), where its perfectly legal to use copyrighted materal, you can use these with no problems.
It very much depends where you are and where your server is situ - the MPAA doesn't control laws worldwide, so there's many loopholes.
Other ways is to use material that is not copyrighted, infact I've seen some sites using this hack to promote new bands, and making money by doing so - some people have made podcasts for there sites, again perfectly legal.

Re: The XEON Mp3 Player for vBulletin 3.6.X
Hey im always receiving this message when i finish listening to a song on the XEON mp3 Player:
A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly and is making your computer un-responsive.
Then it gives me a option to abort it and if i click yes nothing happens i cant play a song, but if i click no it freezes and closes. What can be solved here? Please help thanks!

Make sure there is more than one track in any playlist. It's happens due to the player trying to shuffle multiple tracks, but if there's only one track available, then this error will happen.

Re: The XEON Mp3 Player for vBulletin 3.6.X
very nice job on the player!
Question regarding vBulletin integration.. is it possible, or have you considered, being able to feed the contents of the player from a forum configured as a podcast. Basically it would require being able to read in the ITunes feed into the player. While it seems that I could do this manually today by creating a playlist that points to the MP3s directly, would be nice to have it be dynamic based on content adds.

We are in the middle of having this modification updated, all the old coding is being replaced, and will be totally compatible. The feature you mention hasn't been asked for before, but it maybe considered in future versions.

Re: The XEON Mp3 Player for vBulletin 3.6.X
Great to hear. Given the marketing as an integrated VBulletin player this would be a big win. We produce a weekly podcast and it would be nice to have a player on the home page auto populate new shows..
Another nice to have would be scanning attachments in a forum and building playlists from it. While I don't have this need, I could imagine a music sharing site where users attach or link MP3s in their threads/posts and those links and attachments are the source for a playlist..

Re: The XEON Mp3 Player for vBulletin 3.6.X
I'm hoping to have the updated version of this done this weekend. Currently I'm holding off the release because I've designed a new player for it - basically for people using light-colored styles.
Once this is complete the Xeon Series players will be replaced in early 2008, by a complete new range of commercial 'Power' players which have been completely redesigned - player engines and all coding, but they are designed to read the same database tables for compatibility, and add further features.
I'll look into the playlist population via attachments, however this free version will only allow up 500 tracks to be added.
