About This Page: This is a discussion on Too Many Mods within the vBulletin Modifications forums, part of the vBulletin Discusions category, at vBulletin Modification Discussions. Can you get to the point where you simply have too many mods installed? Is there a point when the functionality of the board software is compromised?

Re: Too Many Mods

each mod is going to vary in what it's doing, but sure, you can have too many mods for your board to run smoothly. particularly depending on which ones add queries to your page displays, it can slow up the works significantly and impact performance. if you're talking mostly template edit kind of things, that doesn't matter so much. but for each database hit, you'll be slowing things down a little. and some mods are much worse than others. plus, a lot of difference between mods because they are independently coded. some are just done better than others. some don't play nice with others, too.

i assume you're asking because you're concerned you do have too many...i would look at which ones are really working for you and adding value to the board and user experience. you can also add a debug command in your config to see what database queries each page is doing. but most likely, i'm thinking if you're asking, the answer is "probably yes," you may have too many installed.
