Exclamation New To vBulletin...Need Help With Modules (FlashChat & ShoutCast Server)!!

Hello...I am new here and also to using vBulletin...I have installed vBulletin v3.6.4 and vBadvanced CMPS v2.2.1...I have also imported my old user and forum data into vBulletin from Xoops using ImpEx...Everything seems to be working fine except I am getting really frustrated trying to get modules to work and display the way I want...vBulletin has so much stuff involved...far more complicated then the Xoops I have been using...

I have the FlashChat v4.7.7 application installed to the site and it works...but I am having trouble getting it to where it looks integrated with the site (with the site logo and navbar on top of the page)

The ShoutCast Hack I have also installed...But I have 2 problems with it...It keeps saying the server is offline when in fact it is spitting out 3 seperate streams as I write this (Major Problem) and also I want it on every page under the navbar (currently it only shows within the Forumz 'vBulletin')

If anyone could provide some insight as to what I could be doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it as I currently have the site closed (hidden) to the public until we open it this coming Thursday.

Thank you in advance for your time!

I would advise not to use flashchat, there always seems to be an exploit for it out

Ok...So what is a good alternative? I looked at that Sigma/AddOn Chat and that is just rediculous...There's no way I'm paying that much just to be able to have customized avatars, etc...Plus I have been using FlashChat for a while on my Xoops site with no problems

Yes...I have tried the integration mod...but when I installed it all I got was a blank white screen...

The furthest I have gotten with this is creating a page called "Chat" from within vBadvanced that has nothing but the header, navbar and footer...I just can't figure out how to insert the flashchat.php into it...I thought of just throwing it in an iframe but I'm not sure how to edit the modules and pages to create the frame

vbshout 2 seems to work fine, I think there are 3 or 4 shoutbox or chatbox hacks at vBulletin.org

That's a shoutbox Loco. Two different things.

Personally I think the default integration mechanism and having it in a seperate window works great. I never understood why anyone would want to put it on the page of the forums.

Yea...I'm not worried about a shoutbox at the moment but I will be installing one of those also...

I like the chat better with the header and links at the top...just a personal preference...and I'm going to have the ShoutCast Server info or a web player directly at the top of the chat for our thursday radio shows because we take requests live via the chatroom and it makes it easier for our viewers to have both on one page. =)

Anyway...I got FlashChat working...I used an iframe and pointed it to flashchat.php...I'm happy with that so on to customizing the theme to match the site design then takle the ShoutCast integration problem...

Again Thank You both for your help!!

I never had a problem like that with it...The only problem I had installing it this time was I couldn't get the bot script to finish but that's not too big of a deal...I host my site with GoDaddy on a shared server and it works good...

Sorry we couldn't be of more help. You have either used flashchat or you haven't. I'm not much into all that with the type of sites I have so the experience is limited.

As you progress and learn more feel free to share your tips with others here at vBulletin Modder.
