I'm not exactly sure. I am sure you, as an admin here, get a ton of we who are not technical, like at all....
Well, I would send you a link of a forum that has this hack, but I can't make links until I get ten post count . So, I hope you don't mind...I am going to cheat a bit.
w.ww.cosforums.com
There is a dot after the first w.
Anyways, they have this hack installed. It is labeled "Latest Discussion".

Cheating is fine. It's to slow down the spammers. I'll take a look.

In the HTML source, the hack seems to be called "Last 10 threads" or something, but when I search for it on vBulletin.org, I couldnt find it. And I m unfamiliar with that hack, but by the look of the screenshots and the description, it seems to be something different.
What this hack at that forum has it a Latest Discussion hack with:
Thread - Forum - Latest Poster - Replies - Views and I think something else. it is all neatly organized, and I love that.
For my board, I just have the latest 5 threads hack, and I really dont like it at all .
You think that this hack might be custom-made?

I think that the one I linked will do what you want. At least according to it's options listed.

Its not Cyb's hack. I have it and it is different, but will work (like you said) none the less. I don't know about this one, but Cyb's will take into account usergroup permissions so users don't see threads they shouldn't and will let you exclude certain usergroups and forums altogether.
It has lots of other functions, but you can turn them all off except for the ten latest threads if you like. Pretty good Mod.

> Latest X Threads on Forumhome Advanced
Will, just to let you know, the above hack will break your server if you have a forum with hundreds of users online.
Just by looking at the query, there are full table scans done to the thread table, no dateline is taken in consideration.
If you have a large thread table, you could crash your server easy.

Ahh, yeah, there are some pretty bad hacks out there. Sometimes I cringe when I look at the code. Thanks for the heads up.

Last Ten Posts
I would like to be able to have a list of the last ten posts or ten most active threads on my sites homepage. Is the solution being discussed relevant to my needs?

You can do that with vba if you have it or using the rss feed for your forums and an rss tool that may come with your portal.

Also, Mike... if you want, PM me and I'll turn off everything else and turn on the latest threads in Cybs Mod over at my forum, so you can see exactly what it would look like on a live forum.

Done.... I'll leave it for a bit.
You can take out some of the fields and their are other columns you can add, like most view threads, top posters, etc...
That should give you and idea though.
