Things you need to know.
This announcement is for clarity on the purpose of vBulletin Modder and rules governing participation in this community. Particular items may be added or removed as time and events unfold.
vBulletin Modder is primarily a free community of vBulletin webmaster's. It is the hope and intent of this community that members will help each other with vBulletin issues in a positive and supportive manor. You don't need to be a coder or so called "guru" to have something to offer your fellow members. Whether you have launched one or a thousand vBulletin powered sites, your experience has value and you will also need help at some time. So join in the sharing and the gleaning of a growing resource for vBulletin webmaster's. Without your contributions vBulletin Modder will simply become another worthless website stuck in the web.
This site is financially supported by contributions of its membership and through affiliate and ad revenue. As an added incentive, I have made my mods available to supporters only. All member contributed mods and hacks are free to active members of this community. Hopefully this free resource will grow and will become the emphasis of everyone's attention.
If you are purchasing a subscription to merely gain access to my mods then there are some things you need to know first. Purchasing a subscription is a donation to the upkeep of this site and its intent is for members to be able to help and get something in return. No warranty or satisfaction is implied or offered. It is not designed to make money and it is not intended to sell mods to strangers. So be warned, all posting rules on this forum apply. You will not be able to download any files until all active membership requirements are met. At this time this only implies ten contributions to an active discussion. Or the creation of a new discussions.
What is a contribution to an active discussion? This is a discussion forum and its purpose is the discussion of vBulletin and it's modification. So engage in useful discussion and you will be fine. Making useless posts like "thanks for that" or similar non contributory spam will be deleted. Of course there is the usual double standard. This applies to new members who obviously are only trying to gain access to free mods and make several of these posts in a few minutes time. Established members who have made useful posts and contributions to this site will not have such posts deleted but are encouraged to spare the resources as they would hope their own members would as well. It will be at the administrator or moderator's discretion on what constitutes post spam.
Registering at this site for any reason other than to engage in useful vBulletin webmaster discussion is considered a valid reason for banning. Some possible scenarios are suggested below. And there are probably others that are not covered or have not happened yet.
If you are an active established member of this community and you suddenly wish to tell me, I'm an idiot, that's fine. If you register and your first post is about my idiocy it will be deleted. If you decide to continue on this path you will be banned. You're not a member of this community and we don't really care what you think and you are not entitled to an opinion. So move along, we don't care.
If you register to post spam advertising, you of course will be banned.
If you attack another member, you may be banned. If you have problems with another member your only options are to contact me or a mod (and it better be valid), ignore them, handle it privately or turn the other cheek. Don't bring troubles from other sites to this one.
If it comes to the attention of the staff that you are involved in any illegal activities then you will be banned.
For the most part, if you behave like you want members of your site to behave, then you should have no problems.
That's all for now.
The Staff
Addendum 1: If you post releases, (code, styles, or anything) that are not yours to post then you will be banned.
Addendum 2: Due to all the self centered spammers that over work the staff at vBulletin Modder, anyone with under 2 posts will have their posts moderated. Once you have 2 posts approved then you will automatically be promoted to community member and you may post without approval. This is an inconvenience but a minor one. I'm sure 99% of all posts will be approved in a short time.
Having said that. I went through the list and promoted people with less than 5 posts whom I know or are known in the community. And we will continue to make these exceptions in the future.
This will help keep the site clean and we can deal with spammers before you ever have to see thier handy work.
