I'm the admin for my car club's website and message board. We very recently upgraded from phpBB2 to Vbulletin, and I'll never go back lol. Our forums are still being worked on, but I'm also in the process of redesigning our website so the forum is kinda idle for now.

I had thought about it but I don't know, I've never actually looked into how to do it and such. I did browse a coupel styles but didn't really find anything I liked.

I would really go with something custom rather than keeping the vbulletin style. I'm sure the content is great and benficial to the audience that you are aiming for though finding a style promptly wouldn't be such a bad thing and might entice guests to register.
Thus far, the default theme doesn't look very inviting and I'm betting people have turned away just because theres no style that compliments the theme of your site.
Goodluck regardless and hopefully we'll see some positive changes in the future.

haha!! Egads!!!
Looks well laid out, but I agree with everyone here... drop a little coin or pick up a free style somewhere, but get away from that standard vBulletin style...
I think if you make a forum different not only you, but the members kind of 'own' it. Even here, with the rather simple, yet pleasing orange, I feel like I am on vbModder and nowhere else.
There are some great free styles running around vborg and what not and I've seen vbSkinworks stuff - pure class. Big advantage to paid style is support, too.
As for 'how' to do it, it is one of the simpliest changes you'll make. Doesn't get complicated till you start adding style after style!!

Ah, you bought my favorite style that he recently made. If John would make a green and blue variant of that one I would buy it for another game site I have.

Dude!!
I love that style !!! If I didn't already have way too many styles I'd have thought about picking that one up!!
And CM has a good idea there... I bet John could easily have several color variants and it would be a very popular style....
