what do you think about "thread tags"

I've been thinking about adding these to my site and I finally gave the zoints version a try and I didn't care for the look.

I'm using the board tracker version now and will let you know how it goes..

so my questions to CM, do you think you'll use a thread tagging system ? or are you going to wait out for vseo's version.

Have also been looking at it a few days ago and wondered what it would bring as extra... we already have so many things, and then this tags extra

Will it bring something to the users ? (userside)
Does it get a better ranking ? (ownerside)
Do spiders use it ?

I decided not to install it yet. Though Brandon, if you can share your experience.

Anything which makes clouds of links, just doesnt seem right for the long haul?

I wonder if you could select targeted keywords that were based on your forums genre, and it would pull those thread links, and place them in the cloud?

I have banned boardtracker on this site. There are just too many undesirable methods used by that site.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while..

I've been using the Zoints thread tags now for several weeks..
I stoped using the board tracker ones after seeing they were not saving the correct url's

you can see how well the tags are working for my site here

I would use the zoints one if your looking to try one.

I also purchased the link removal as you see there is no zoints link on all those 180 pages

I had boardtracker and they didn't bring in a single thing. Deleted it. Not sure I'll eer use tags again. Don't see the point of using it anymore. Wondering how long SE will folow those... if everybody ses those, ....

WT#?!?! I've had that same Zoints Product running on After Seppuku for months. Running on Foto Fanatix since day 1... okay, maybe day 2 or 3... and I don't have a single hit on Google...

I wonder why?

And what is this Link Removal thingy and how much... dare I ask...

did you change the name of your forum or anything ?
I don't even see one page of the indexed tags
I also added at least one pr4 to the tags/ page maybe more.. adding links sometimes gets blurry..

and the copyright removal was 30 I think..

they help with Search Engine Optimization I believe..
I don't see much traffic from zoints but you can see more url's with keywords in the serp's

I don't believe that is true. You would be better off just gettings some quality links. The best thing for Search Engine Optimization is content and quality links. Natural links preferably. This whole linking user accounts will drive in about as much traffic as it drives out. Probabably about the same as back in the day when everyone got all moonie eye over webrings. We see how that lasted.

A forum is about the community it serves. Turning it outward is contrary to it's purpose and best done with other formats. IMO

You guys need to stop trying to compete with myspace and digg and just run forums.
