Whatever and wherever. I use vBaLinks, and it seems to work well. Just a suggestion so that users can add their sites and offer reciprocal links for vbmodder.

Link exchanges section here on your site. Simply put, users put their links to their sites up here and the return they have to give a recriprocal link back to vbmodder.

Even I don't have a link back

thought I never asked neither. And I need to tweak my homepage again to include links. Seems the template doesn't take it natively, will be something for my coder once we're on vacation

I just want to make a note to be careful about link back and what not though. If you start doing it for a few people, then others come and then you end up with a huge spew of external links... It's not great for Search Engine Optimization on your part if you don't include ref=nofollow, and its completely pointless for the other party if you do include ref=nofollow...

If I set a link part, it is just as a service, no LB issue for me. Just that I want to show the way to some sites I appreciate. Nothing more.

It depends on what you want to accomplish.

If you don't care about Page Ranking and all that and your site is zipping along happily and everyone there is posting merrilly then who cares. That is probably how you should run your site.

However, if you are interested in Page Ranking, then you should worry about what neighborhoods you link to. It doesn't matter too much who links to you though similar themes are better. But who you link to and acknowledge will get you eyed by Google if you send them to bad neighborhoods. Birds of a feather and all that.

If I get enough link backs and get a good Page Ranking then eventually I will sell a few links to help pay for growth etc. So I do worry about outgoing links. But that's my thing for this site. Other sites, I don't really care as much.

Not at all. You desire add revenue so you need to make google happy and get good Page Ranking. Guests click adds far more than members do. It's a known fact that most adds are clicked by people that find you in a web search but you were not quite what they were looking for. However, they see a relevent add that more applies to their target and they click.

My site has a pagerank of 5 and a lot of traffic but... little posting.
So Search Engine Optimization is one thing, but having an active site is another, both are not cnecessarely linked. SEO can help but isn't a garantee for succes.
