Change The Show Default Post Icon Setting in vBulletin
Some people like a default post icon showing up in every single post and some don't. Whatever your preference, it is an obscure setting that can be hard to find. This brief tutorial will help you find it.
I always forget where to find this one when I set up another vBulletin forum. I find myself looking for a radio button to click or a drop down select menu. This however is one of those settings that is on or off depending on the value of a text box.
To change this setting you need to go into your admincp and find the vBulletin Options link on the left column. It is usually near the top. Click that and it takes you to a selection of links leading to various options for both vBulletin and various mods you have installed.
For this setting we want to click on Thread Display Options (showthread). Once the thread display options page is loaded you will see the Show Default Post Icon option. It should be the fourth option down.
To turn off default post icons you need to make sure this text box is empty.
To turn on this option you need to put the path to the image you wish to use as default post icon in every post. The path is from vB_ROOT. So an example would be "images/icons/icon1.gif".
There you have it, a simple solution to a not so obvious setting.
