Valid XHTML 1.0?

i was on vBulletin.org looking at an arcade hack and people were talking about this hack having alot of these errors in it. i asked what this meant w/o trying to jack his thread and sombody referred me to this site.

The W3C Markup Validation Service

so i typed in my adress and got 20 errors in my site... so then i tried vBulletin.org and they had 28.

my site seems to work good and looks good. so why all the hype about this and whats it mean?

im not a codder... i just install what i see that looks cool.. do i need to worry about this xhtml thing?

vBulletin comes default invalid. People have been screaming at them for years and it slowly gets better. But you have to take all that with a grain of salt. When I recoded this style i had the forums page valid. But all it takes is a & in someones text and it's invalid. Which is silly. It should look at html not content. duh.

So don't get all freaked out because that is not too many errors at all. Just look at each one and see what it is.

And be carefull, sometimes when you fix a so called error you break some code from forum... Nothing is perfect and the standards are sometimes weird.

we i think i seen what everyone was talking about when it came to this hack... i installed it and hit almost 200 errors... so somthing must have been really wrong w/ it. but it looks good. i checked to make sure it worked well in a few browers. and nothing wierd.

when u have errors like that does it slow your site? whats the consiquences?

doesn't slow down according me but some browser will have enough code to correct minor errors if needed and some will have weird behavour, but from my humble experience, if IE6 shows it correct, you don't have to worry about others
