About This Page: This is a discussion on talkvbulletin.com off line for good? within the General Chat forums, part of the Community Center category, at vBulletin Modification Discussions. I see that Talk vBulletin is completely offline now. I find it odd that someone could pay that kind of money for a site and just shut it down.
I find it odd that someone would pay that kind of money and disappear. Our arrangement was I would host it for 30 days to give him time to move it. After multiple emails and IM messages with no response, his 30 days ran out and I turned it off
I can only come to the conlusion that it was a kill purchase. That someone with cash flow hired an agent to purchase it with the intent to kill it. Who would do that? I don't know. People do strange things in this old world.
Sucks losing that related back link but such is life.

This is not very shocking to me. I had a situation last year where it was nearly impossible to get a buyer to understand I wasn't interested in selling a site. I finally played a long and took him to his limit.
The guy was persistent and actually offered an amount that was very difficult to turn down.
I think only one question remains. Who? What would be the motivation to buyout vBulletin help sites and shut them down? It's not like many of them are soon to be on big boards.

Who knows. The guy who bought TVB is on MSN all the time and never responds to me. I sent copies of the files via UPS and had him sign for it to cover my butt against a chargeback so at this point it is either his loss or success depending on the goal

You would think that if it was someone that owned another vBulletin site that they would either merge the sites, or at the very least, redirect the domain.

This John person tried to buy vbFAQ as well. Joey forwarded to me the email he received from this guy. I couldn't believe the price he offered!
