Do you think adding a forum to business to business company is worthwhile?

I work for a publishing co, that publishes a finance titles. There has been some discussion of late, about adding forums to the websites for each title, but do you think it is worthwhile?

I have some experience of using and modding forums for 'fun', but never in a business context. What are your thoughts?

Only if you can keep up with the running of it. Sometimes that's difficult to do without help 24 hours a day. The topic also needs to have a broad range to afford much discussion. In the end, it's up to you. a vBulletin license isn't that great an expense to a business and you can always sell it if it doesn't work out.

The cost isn't an issue here as it is a large global company, the running of it may be more of an issue, but I expect we'd employ an online editor for that and other things.

The particular title we are considering this for is legal, so there are a number or changes and updates so I think it would afford discussion.
