It will most likely just be template issues just like upgrading now.

Oh really? Just a regular upgrade? running the scripts? or will I have to do comparing of php files? Also, remember when they went from 3.0 to 3.5? When they changed so many things that a ton of us were fooked. Had to "port" many hacks.

Yes but those where all code hacks. Most are plugins now. If you are using a code hack then it will indeed get wiped. Plugins will not. They may not work anymore but that would be up to the mod author to release an update.
